I could feel my back starting to go, but I pressed on and made desert. Because it was family meal night, and I wanted it to be special.
With the cake in the oven, it went.
I was waddling around the house, barely mobile, yet chasing, slowly, after my kid, who, incidentally also has chicken pox. Great timing. She took to waddling around in imitation of her crippled mother. At least we had some laughs.
But you know what? It was great timing. We're confined to the house anyway. And what better excuse to gorge on cake batter, Top Chef, and iPad marathons than a sick girl and a crippled mother. So, that's exactly what we did.
